Wartime Superior in the Philippines by John F. Hurley, S.J.
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
Father John F. Hurley, S.J., superior of the Jesuits in the Philippines during the Japanese occupation, wrote this account of the war years at the request of Georgetown University's archivist in 1964, covering his internment at Santo Tomas and his help supplying escaped and evading American and Filipino soldiers with clothes and medicine, work that later earned Filipino Jesuit Horacio de la Costa the Medal of Freedom. Jesuit historian José S. Arcilla annotated and edited the manuscript for publication decades after it was written. Ateneo de Manila University Press published the book, titled Wartime Superior, 1941-1945, in the Philippines, in 2005.
