Tita Amel: Master Puppeteer and Storyteller, Story by Carla M. Pacis
In stock
In a crowded neighborhood in Quezon City, a structure stands out from the houses that surround it. It is often filled with the chatter and laughter of children who have come to watch one of the many puppet shows of Teatrong Mulat, a theater company founded by National Artist and Professor Emeritus Amelia Lapeña–Bonifacio. It is through her zeal and passion that puppet theater and children’s literature have found their place in Philippine literature.
Carla M. Pacis is a writer, teacher, and painter. She is a faculty member of the Literature Department of De La Salle University. She is currently working on her family biography that begins in the nineteenth century and ends in World War II. Carla has been given a Lifetime Achievement Award for Children’s Literature in English by the Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL) for her literary work and reading advocacy.
