The Snap Revolution: James Fenton in the Philippines
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
James Fenton, a British poet and war correspondent who had covered the fall of Saigon, arrived in the Philippines in early 1986 expecting only a routine "snap election" and instead found himself chronicling the fall of Ferdinand Marcos. Over four weeks he moved from camping with NPA guerrillas to entering the abandoned Malacañang Palace with the first crowds after Marcos fled, an eyewitness account of the People Power Revolution written with immediacy and dry wit. Originally published as an issue of Granta magazine, the book collects Fenton's reporting, first published in 1986.
