The Madrid-Manila Flight by Eduardo G. Gallarza and Joaquin Loriga Taboada
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
Captains Joaquín Loriga, Eduardo González-Gallarza, and Rafael Martínez Esteve left Madrid on April 5, 1926, in three Breguet XIX biplanes named Elcano, Magallanes, and Legazpi, aiming to open a new air route between Spain and its former Pacific colony. Esteve was forced down and lost in the desert for five days, and after a crash landing in Macao left Gallarza's plane damaged, he and Loriga completed the final leg together in the Elcano, reaching Manila on May 13 after covering some 17,000 kilometers in 38 days. This English-language edition of the aviators' own account, first published in Spanish, was launched in the Philippines in 2011 for the flight's 85th anniversary.
