This is a collection of narrative stories and essays on Philippine history about events in the late 19th to the 20th centuries. Some of the stories are derived from oral history written down for the first time and preserved to be read by future generations.  It also opens unintended controversies about how things happened such as how the Katipunan was betrayed or how General Antonio Luna was assassinated or Emilio Aguinaldo defended his actions during the Philippine Revolution. The stories can be checked with the established version for the readers comparison. Though intended as light historical reading, the book provides a down-to-earth view of the past and how it is appreciated by the Filipinos of today.

About the Author

Augusto V. De Viana is an associate professorial lecturer at the University of Santo Tomas. He obtained the degrees of Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies, Master of Arts in History cum laude and Doctor of Philosophy in History magna Cum laude from the same university. He authored books such as of Apples and Ampalaya: Bittersweet Glimpses of the American Period in the Philippines; Kulaboretor! The Issue of Political Collaboration during World War II and The Far Islands: The Role of Natives from the Philippines in the Conquest, Colonization and Repopulation of the Mariana Islands 1668-1903. He is also the editor and compiler of The I-Stories: The Events in the Philippine Revolution and the Filipino-American War as told by its Eyewitnesses and Participants. He has also authored various articles in scholarly publications such as the Micronesian, the journal of the University of the Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Aubury, New South Wales and the Unitas and Ad Veritatem of the University of Santo Tomas.
