Sa ating panahon ng ligalig, awit at pag-isip ang madalas a umaaliw sa ating upang magkaroon ng lakas at pag-asa na magpatuloy mabuhay. Hindi lamang aliwan ang awit at pag-iisip, ngunit tunay na landas ng pamumuhay. May malalim na kaugnayan ang awit at pag-iisip na mababanaagan natin sa mga pirasong-sulatin nina Parmenides at Herakleitos o sa mga aklat nina Iob at Qohelet. Ngunit bihirang gawing paksa ng mga awit-isip ang pag-ibig. Maraming awit (halos lahat?) ang tungkol sa pag-ibig; may mga bungang-isip ang tungkol sa pag-ibig. Ngunit sa mga awit-isip ng mga makata at pilosopo (nina Homeros o sophokles, angelus Silesius o Friedrich Nietzsche) hgiit na malalim ang bakas ng kamatayan kaysa bakas ng pag-ibig.
