Occupation '42 by Benito J. Legarda Jr.
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
Benito J. Legarda Jr., a Filipino historian and economist who lived through the Japanese occupation of Manila as a teenager, gathers columns he wrote for the Philippines Free Press and the Manila Meteor to mark the 60th anniversary of the war. Drawing on his own memories and his father's diaries alongside published histories, Legarda covers the war's outbreak, the Bataan Death March, and civilian life in occupied Manila, aiming to preserve stories he felt were being forgotten. The book won the National Book Award for History, and De La Salle University Press published it in Manila in 2003.
