Luther Parker arrived in the Philippines in 1901 and spent twenty-five years teaching for the American colonial Bureau of Education, developing along the way a serious interest in Philippine history and an extensive collection of research and photographs documenting prewar life in the islands. My Philippine Pictures and Other Poems collects his own verse on Filipino subjects and scenes. The Methodist Publishing House released the book from Manila in 1919.
