Mayaman at malawak ang pinapaksa ng mga kuwento–mula sa panahong nanakop ang mga Hapon hanggang sa kasalukuyang hinahagupit ang bayan ng matinding mga sakuna at pandemya. Ngunit kayang-kaya niyang balansehin ang pagsasalikop ng mababaw at malalim na tema sa mga kuwento. Isa itong katangian ng magaling na kuwentista. Oo, madaya ang mga kuwento ni Baquiran. Dahil madaya siya magkuwento. Ngunit kalimitan, kailangang madaig ng daya ang sarili upang mapukaw at mahulò ang katotohanan.
