Maybe: Incidentally (The Satire of Federico Mangahas)

"To postwar generations of Filipino writers, particularly those under 30, the name Federico Mangahas may not ring a bell. Back in the 1930s, however, it was a name to be reckoned with. Founder and the first president of the Philippine Writers' League, organizer of the Commonwealth Literary Contest, and one of the most influential journalists of his time, Mangahas was some kind of literary czar in the Thirties. Along with S.D Lopez, he set the tone and temper of writing in that period, decreeing that it should be socially conscious, committed, proletarian.
— Jose F. Lacaba, Federico Mangahas is Alive and Well..., in The Review, vol. 1, no. 4, Dec. 1977, p. 18.
...His [Federico Mangahas'] "Maybe" in The Tribune has come to be regarded as the best column in the country;...
— In: Dear Devices, 1933, p. 29.
"The columnist is nothing if not bright. At least so he thinks... The columnist is modest about his modesty; it is such a rare virtue these days...clear-seeing as a gift and as a development is not all. There is need for perspective... The columnist is very personal. His column, like the familiar essay, is definitely an organ of personality... He is hospitable to all faiths, while keeping his own or accepting none; he is tolerant of all people, including fellow columnists and other fools."
— Federico Mangahas, This Creature Called Columnist, in Dear Devices, 1933, p. 35-38.
