Ang Isang Dalumat ng Panahon ay isang tangka sa diskursong teoretiko hinggil sa rendisyon ng temporalidad na maituturing na “Filipino.” Bilang pangunahing tuon at pamamaraan nito, bumabaling ang aklat sa panitikan, sa kritikal na pagbasa nito sa iba’t ibang teksto tulad ng mga talang pandiksiyonaryo, mga pag-aaral sa larang ng araling Filipino, at mga tula. Sa gayon, isinasanay ng aklat ang isang mungkahi, kung hindi man panibagong, wika upang mapag-usapan ang panahon, sampu ng partikular na paggana nito sa mundong Filipino.
