In this collection of essays, Simeon Dumdum Jr. continues his musings in Ah, Wilderness: A Journey through Sacred Time, his last non-fiction book. He shows us that the secular calendar and the church calendar form interfacing pages of the same logbook, that daily events happen sub specie aeternitatis. Hence, one needs to gaze beyond the variousness and transitoriness of the world to see the true landscape, to which the oddments and bric-a-brac that clutter our circadian lives do in fact serve as guideposts, if only we discover that they reflect the light of the Gospels. Hence, in his introduction, Dumdum considers his essays as bypassing a passing world.
