Franquistas sin Franco by Florentino Rodao
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
Florentino Rodao, a historian at Madrid's Universidad Complutense specializing in Spain's relations with Asia, examines how the Spanish Civil War played out among the small but influential Spanish community in the Philippines between 1936 and 1939, even as the archipelago moved through its own transition toward independence under the Commonwealth. Rodao traces the infighting between Falangists and more traditional conservative and Carlist factions among local Franco supporters, and argues that the community's declining prestige during the war, more than the loss of the colony in 1898, marked the real end of Spanish influence in the islands. Editorial Comares published the book, written in Spanish, in Granada in 2012.
