Boy Soldier: Coming of Age During World War II by Russell E. McLogan
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
Russell E. McLogan was drafted at 18 in 1944, straight out of a Detroit high school, and sent to the Philippines as an infantry replacement in the battle-hardened 6th Infantry Division on the Shimbu Line near Manila. Wounded in combat in northern Luzon, he spent 89 days recovering in Army hospitals before being sent back to duty in time to join the occupation forces in Korea after the atomic bombs ended the war. His memoir pairs a young soldier's day-to-day experience with well-researched history of the Army's replacement training system and the liberation of the Philippines. Terrus Press published the book in 1998.
