Bamboo Girls: Stories and Poems from a Forgotten Life by Ian Rosales Casocot
In stock
"At his best, Ian Rosales Casocot enthralls his readers with explorations in the hidden geographies of the past, revealing pathways of lost time to valleys of longing and rememrances--all in service of powerful observances of truth. And Bamboo Girls is Casocot at his best. With great compassion and deftness, he exposes his characters' lives in each narrative, each one lost in the embrace of memory and prey to the incursion of the loud and sudden future. Aching gaps in recollection color choices made--and always there is the delicious bittersweet presence of time: how it erases or smoothens, amplifies or distorts, validates or questions, protects or invents what we remember.
--Dean Francis Alfar, author of Salamnca."
