Anyaya ng Imperyalista (Mga Tula) / Invitation of the Imperialist (Poems)
In stock
This bilingual poetry collection by award-winning Filipina poet Elynia S. Mabanglo critiques imperialism, (neo)colonialism, and their lasting effects on Philippine identity and society through three interconnected sections: colonization and its legacy, the postcolonial Philippine condition, and the diaspora experiences of Filipinos abroad. The work addresses both nationalist concerns and intimate stories of Filipina overseas workers who face exploitation, abuse, and displacement, while exploring themes of patriarchy, postcoloniality, and identity. Through its powerful title poem and broader collection, Mabanglo interrogates the seductive nature of imperial power and its systemic impact on Filipino lives.
