A Trial of Generals by Lawrence Taylor
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
Lawrence Taylor's A Trial of Generals examines the postwar military commission trials of Japanese generals Masaharu Homma and Tomoyuki Yamashita, held in the Philippines under General Douglas MacArthur's authority. Homma commanded the invasion force that captured Bataan and oversaw the death march, while Yamashita, recalled late in the war to defend the islands, had ordered his forces to abandon Manila, only for naval units under Admiral Iwabuchi to instead burn and massacre the city in defiance of his orders. Taylor argues both generals were unaware of these atrocities and that the truncated trials, with appeals running only to MacArthur himself, amounted to a miscarriage of American judicial conduct.
