I was born and raised in the Philippines, and my life has taken me through Japan, Malaysia, and India before settling in the New York area, which I've called home since 2014.
Sharing Filipino culture has always been at the heart of what I do. It started with a food tour celebrating Filipino cuisine, welcoming hundreds of guests and earning features on BuzzFeed and Food Insider. When the pandemic made that impossible, I channeled the same energy into something new -- and this bookstore was born.
Before all of this, I was on track to become a Philippine diplomat. That path didn't work out, but the desire to promote and represent the Philippines never left me. Philippine Books is where that love found a home.
